We have visited Shepherd's Gate each month for our second year. Praise The Lord! Many thanks to all who have hosted an evening this year. Please contact Valerie Robertson by email or call 419-7438 with any questions or to find out more about this ministry that meets each second Friday of the month.

Here below is a great testimony about Women's Ministry from Mandie Boyd!:
Recently, I got a group of friends together and joined the Shepherd's Gate ladies on a Friday evening. One of my friends shared a testimony of how the Lord built her faith through trials. We had an ice cream party and played a round (or 5!) of Catch Phrase. We walked in hoping to minister to these ladies. But, as serving will always do... they ministered to our hearts. The ladies commented so many times that they felt like human beings that night rather than a 'project.' It was only three of us friends. One of my friends said that was one of the best blessings she has ever experienced. That night, the Lord led two ladies back to Himself through us. Praise Him!

The Torchbearers Senior Adult Ministry highlights service, participation, fellowship, and trips/activities in 2013. The Ministry focuses on persons 55 years of age and older and encourages service outside the church, inside the church, and to the ministry itself as well as opportunities for participation in church events, fellowship, and travel.

Continuing this Wednesday is the 15-week parenting course, Shepherding a Child's Heart. Biblical parenting is about leading our children to change and grow, and to do that we must address the heart. Otherwise we will attempt nothing more than manipulative behavior modification that results in our children responding to a new idol rather than our loving Lord. For those who have previously registered, the class begins at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday. Angie Ownbey is leading the course.

The twentyfourseven Outreach Evangelism Training continues on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. in the Music Suite. Please make plans to come and reach out to our community!

The Wade Hampton Basketball league registration begins September 17 and we are looking for COACHES. If you are interested in coaching this year, please contact Abi Elrod by email or call the office at 244-2975. Receive one FREE registration fee when you coach!

Our first SoccER games begin Saturday, September 20. Please join us at the soccer fields on Devenger and Hudson Roads to cheer on our teams!

On Sunday morning, September 21, Steve Deal will be our guest missionary speaker. ERBC's Missions Offering supports Steve and Redemption Ranch in the Philippines. Be here to support him and hear about what God is doing through his ministry.

Dr. Victor Benavides did a tremendous job with his initial 2 weeks of outreach training. The first week's video is available on YouTube as well as the second week's video.

Please pray for the Bodoloskys as they obey the Lord's call to missions. Find out more about their ministry or Google 10bodos.

Download a Missions Application to fill out in preparation for any trip you would like to make.

We continue collecting different items for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes! Thank you for your support!
Here is the schedule of items we will collect:
September/October – Small toys

AWANA continues Sundays starting at 5:00 p.m.! Our AWANA children will be collecting flip flops to send with Fran Dill on her mission trip to Brazil. You can send in flip flops and we will collect through September 21! Any size is good, but we especially need children's sizes!

Our next Family Dedication Service will be on Sunday, September 28. If you would like to participate in the Family Dedication Service please register with Ginger Hall no later than Monday, September 22. You can contact her at 244-2975, ext. 111 or by email. Parents are required to attend a class on Wednesday, September 24 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Our Backpack Buddies Ministry will be starting up soon! This is a ministry to Lake Forest Elementary School children who do not have adequate food for the weekend. ERBC will be covering the school year through Christmas break. If you would like to donate money to this ministry, you can write your check to ERBC, designate it for Backpack Buddies, and put it in the offering plate. Thank you!

If you are interested in serving in AWANA or Good News Club this fall, please contact Pastor Travis as soon as possible. You can reach him at 244-2975, ext. 121 or by email. Thank you!

PLEASE PRAY for all of the Good News Clubs that will be starting this week! We begin our Club at Lake Forest Elementary School Tuesday, September 16. Pray for all of the schools, the volunteers, and the children!

If you would like to support Good News Club financially, here are several ways you can give that will not interfere with your tithe:
1. During the month of September most local Chick-fil-A restaurants will donate $1 to GNC for every gallon of iced tea and every 6-count chocolate chunk cookie purchased. Please be sure to thank the owners of these restaurants for their support!
2. If you are supporting United Way through your employment you can designate your pledge to Good News Club. Complete your donor designation form and in Section C be sure to fill in: CEF-Greenville/Piedmont District, P.O. Box 575, Taylors, SC, 29687.
3. You can change your search engine on your computer to Goodsearch, and for every search that you make with Goodsearch they will donate 1 cent to GNC. Go to www.goodsearch.com to set up an account. When it asks you to select a cause, be sure to designate Child Evangelism Fellowship – CEF Greenville Piedmont District as your cause. Those pennies add up, and you will surprised at how much and how quickly you can raise money at no cost to you!

Thank you to all of you who recently volunteered to help in the Nursery Suite! It will be a huge help to have substitutes we can call on when a need arises. Additionally, there continues to be a great need for volunteers willing to serve as substitutes on the Preschool Hall where our Ones through Fours classes meet, especially during the worship hour. Please consider making yourself available to fill in should one of our regular workers not be able to serve on their scheduled week. Please contact Amy Sweeney at 380-5785 or by email.

PICTURES: You may notice in the Worship Guide each week and occasionally in the newsletter we run pictures of our ERBC families who are part of Family Ministries. If you would like your family picture to be used in the rotation or if you would like to submit an updated picture, we would love to have it! Simply email it to Pastor Travis.

The ERBC Medical Team works in conjunction with the Safety Team so our members can worship and serve in a safe environment that is well equipped with professionals who can assist in case of emergency. Each Sunday morning team consists of two doctors, one nurse and one dentist or dentist professional. Additions to the team could include paramedics, EMTs, or physician's assistants currently working in the medical field. The Medical Team of doctors and dentist will serve a two week rotation, and nurses, EMTs, paramedics and other members will serve one week rotations. Please contact Amanda Hopper at 590-4503 for more information on how you can serve.

We need more volunteers (students and adults - all ages) to help us on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights with Worship Ministry needs. Join the Media Team and enhance the worship for everyone! Contact Pat Billings at 244-2975, ext. 125 or by email for more information.

For ladies interested in mentoring or having a mentor: please contact Kathy Oliver at 968-0580 or by email or Sandy Cary at 288-3463 or by email for more information on how you can learn from the life experiences of a Godly woman.

KAIROS Prison Ministry is an ecumenical Christian ministry designed for use in state and federal men's and women's correctional institutions in the United States and throughout the world.

The purpose of KAIROS is to establish a strong Christian community among the residents of correctional institutions. This is done by the presentation of a 3-day short course in Christianity. It is presented by an interdenominational team of about 55 persons for a group of 42 residents. The chaplain carefully selects the inmates from the prison population. The ideal recruits are those residents who are presently the leaders in the institution. There, they become Christ's agents for change in their environment that ultimately can bring about change in the attitude and quality of life for the entire institution.

The primary goal of the KAIROS ministry is to teach those who attend the weekend to become part of a share and prayer group. This allows them to share their lives on deep spiritual level and pray for one-another.

The South Carolina KAIROS website gives much more information, and Ed Chandler will be glad to talk to you further about how you can be involved. Please contact Ed at (864) 244-9153. You can also see a recent Post and Courier article on how KAIROS makes such a difference in men's lives!

10-10-10: READ, PRAY AND TELL!

This year work hard to read your Bible at least 10 minutes a day, pray at least 10 minutes a day, and tell others and reach 10 people for Christ! The One Year Bible Online Plan can help you read through the Bible this year.

Be sure to Like the Women's Ministry on Facebook!

You can find out more about Weekday school year registration at the ERBC Preschool website.

A Bible Fellowship Group for men of all ages is available Sunday mornings in Room FLC-109 at 9:00 a.m. Mark Hopper is teaching and facilitating this class that reaches out to men of any age group who may be looking for a new venue. Come with ideas to share, and look forward to a group that will create new opportunities to encourage and help you grow spiritually!

The SingleMinded 30+ Bible Fellowship Group ladies have the opportunity to attend the Heath/Martin Women's class that meets in the Library at 9:00 a.m. The men are encouraged to attend the BFG (also at 9:00 a.m.) for men of all ages in Room FLC-109 with Mark Hopper.

You can check the ERBC Singles page for more information, and join our Facebook group.

You can help other adults improve their reading, writing, math or computer skills, or you can teach English as a second language to people from all over the world. No prior teaching experience is required. For more information, please call 467-3456 or visit www.greenvilleliteracy.org.

What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you - guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit Who lives in us.

2 Timothy 1:13-14

It is ERBC’s vision to provide a house – shelter – for families to transition into permanent housing. Several years ago God blessed ERBC with 60 acres on the corner of Devenger and Hudson Roads. Not only did He provide land for the future ministry expansion; He provided 3 existing houses on the same property. The Devenger House at 205 Devenger Road (near the ERBC soccer fields) has been under renovation for over a year. The goal is to allow local ministries (GAIHN) to use the Devenger House to transition families without a home into permanent housing. Thanks to many ERBC members who have donated their time, talent and treasure to prepare this house. Pray to see how God would use you!

Mom’s Day Out for babies through 2 year olds and K-3 through K-5 is open to the public. Please call 292-0194 for more information, and you can also visit our website.

The South Carolina Heart Gallery is a photo exhibit displayed in the main hallway that features adoptable children from the SC foster care system. Local photographers donate their time and services to photograph the waiting children. The Heart Gallery basically puts a face on the need by letting people see these children’s faces in the photos.  The goal is to raise awareness of the need for adoptive families and to hopefully find homes for these kids by letting their personalities shine through the pictures.

You're not alone! At our Sarcoma Support Group you'll find:

The Sarcoma Support Group meets every fourth Monday in July, October and January at 7:00 p.m. in the Library. For more information you can contact Beth Lagrange by email or by phone at 864-254-0333, and you can access the Sarcoma Support Group webpage.

Miracle Hill Ministries is recruiting Christian foster parents to care for foster children of all ages on a full-time basis as well as respite basis. Any adult (single or married) who has a heart for working with needy children is welcome to apply. Miracle Hill works with DSS to place children from the Upstate in foster homes throughout the community. Background checks, training classes, paperwork and a home study are required. You may contact Brenda Mansel or Sharon Betts at 878-9987 to begin the licensing process or for additional information.
