Things We Struggle With:
NEW SECRET CHURCH STUDY STARTING JANUARY 18
A multiplicity of religions exists in the world, all claiming to hold the truth (or at least some truth) about who we are, how we got here, what we're doing, and where we're going. Billions of people believe in Christianity, while others embrace Islam. Some are Hindu and others are Buddhist. Amidst it all, many are atheist, or at the very least agnostic. So how are we to think and what are we to do in this massive marketplace of religious ideas?
David Platt elaborates in the new Secret Church: A Global Gospel in a World of Religions DVD study Wednesday nights starting January 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Sign up for a book for $5 - see the signup sheet on the front row of the Sanctuary.
The WMU (Women's Missionary Union) Missionary Focus Group will meet at Lucile Sullivan's home at 1119 Edwards Road, 29615 on Monday, January 23 at 10:30 a.m. All ladies are invited to come! Contact Jane Gregory for more information at 884-6947.
DEACON ORDINATION JANUARY 29
We will have a Deacon Ordination in the First Worship Service January 29. Clint Rigsby and Chip Williams will be ordained. Clint's Dad, Bill Rigsby, will be speaking and presenting the charge. 2017 Deacons (new Deacons shown in bold type): Rudy Ables, Todd Axmann, Jim Billings, Kemp Bouknight, Nate Brooks, Keith Brown, Mike Churchwell, John Fiedler, Jim Frazier, Ron Geyer, Rhett Hancock (Chairman), Tom Henderson, Kirk Houston, Kevin Hunter, Larry Kendall, Tim McJunkin, Wallace McNair (Vice Chairman), Leonard Pugh, Austin Raunikar, Clint Rigsby, Scott Siefert, Matt Stone, Dick Stroup, Eddie Turner, Mike Ward, Chip Williams, and Josh Wofford (Secretary).

MORE KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY INFO
KAIROS Prison Ministry is an ecumenical Christian ministry designed for use in state and federal men's and women's correctional institutions in the United States and throughout the world.
The purpose of KAIROS is to establish a strong Christian community among the residents of correctional institutions. This is done by the presentation of a 3-day short course in Christianity. It is presented by an interdenominational team of about 55 persons for a group of 42 residents. The chaplain carefully selects the inmates from the prison population. The ideal recruits are those residents who are presently the leaders in the institution. There, they become Christ's agents for change in their environment that ultimately can bring about change in the attitude and quality of life for the entire institution.
The primary goal of the KAIROS ministry is to teach those who attend the weekend to become part of a share and prayer group. This allows them to share their lives on deep spiritual level and pray for one-another.
The South Carolina KAIROS website gives much more information, and Ed Chandler will be glad to talk to you further about how you can be involved. Please contact Ed at (864) 244-9153. You can also see a recent Post and Courier article on how KAIROS makes such a difference in men's lives!

ERBC SECURITY MEASURES
For the safety of our Weekday children and our Church Staff, our Receptionist will not be allowing anyone in the building that she does not recognize. She will speak to those outside the door by intercom before letting them into the building. We do not want to offend anyone, but we are implementing these measures to offset any possible dangerous scenarios. Thank you for your understanding!

After He had dismissed them, He went up on a mountainside
PRAY FOR HOW YOU CAN BE INVOLVED WITH THE DEVENGER HOUSE
It is ERBC's vision to provide a house - shelter - for families to transition into permanent housing. Several years ago God blessed ERBC with 60 acres on the corner of Devenger and Hudson Roads. Not only did He provide land for the future ministry expansion; He provided 3 existing houses on the same property. The Devenger House at 205 Devenger Road (near the ERBC soccer fields) has been under renovation for over a year. The goal is to allow local ministries (GAIHN) to use the Devenger House to transition families without a home into permanent housing. Thanks to many ERBC members who have donated their time, talent and treasure to prepare this house. Pray to see how God would use you!
