A special two-part id Class event will be held on Sunday, October 19 and Sunday, October 26 during Morning Worship. Prospective members of ERBC can learn about the doctrine, stewardship and membership expectations of our church.

The Torchbearers Senior Adult Ministry highlights service, participation, fellowship, and trips/activities in 2013. The Ministry focuses on persons 55 years of age and older and encourages service outside the church, inside the church, and to the ministry itself as well as opportunities for participation in church events, fellowship, and travel.

The October Monthly Meeting will be held on the third Monday, October 20 at 6:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. The meeting will include a covered dish meal with entrée and beverage provided, a devotional, program, and fellowship around the table. We are pleased to have the Yesterukes back again. Come to sing along with the Yesterukes, the Upstate's premier ukulele band consisting of 26 members. Their toe tapping music features songs from the '20s to the '60s - for example: Sentimental Journey, Sweet Georgia Brown, My Blue Heaven, Swinging on a Star, and other great hits. The night will be a time of entertainment that will be long remembered. ERBC Seniors and their guests are invited to attend.

42% of the people that live around you claim to NOT be Evangelical and NOT interested. That is over 10,000 HOUSEHOLDS in a 1.5 mile radius of ERBC. God has invited you to JOIN His MISSION. What does that actually look like? What is your part in it? Find out by joining the everyday mission of God. LIFE on MISSION begins Wednesday, October 22 at 6:30 pm. Meet us in the Choir Suite to see how you can take the Gospel to your neighbors.

Sunday morning, October 26 we will observe Pastor Appreciation Sunday during the morning worship. Since we did a Carnival this year at VBS we will not have a Harvest Carnival. Instead we are also going to have a Churchwide Fellowship after AWANA/EQUIP/L.I.F.E. classes on Sunday, October 26. The Church will provide all food except for chips and desserts. We are asking all families with last names starting with the letters A – M to bring chips. We are asking all families with last names starting with the letters N – Z to bring desserts.

All AWANA children are encouraged to invite their grandparents or other family members to come with them to Club that night and then stay for the Fellowship. AWANA will have Crazy Hair Night and/or children can wear their costumes to Club! It is going to be a FUN FUN FUN night, so plan to be here!

ERBC will again participate as Salvation Army Bell Ringers at Walmart on Pelham Road beginning November 15. This is earlier than usual, so we need lots of folks to sign up for these time slots. We will have a total of 6 weeks which is a lot of slots to fill! When signing up, please put a phone number where you can be reached in case there are any sort of changes. Pat Ward is coordinating this event again this year, and her number is also on the sign-up sheet for you to call if for some reason you are unable to fulfill your time.

All Singles are invited to lunch at Grille 33 on Haywood Road immediately after the morning worship service on Sunday, November 2. The Singles Ministry will cover some appetizers and drinks, but we need to have a count of who will be able to come. Please email Barry Brown or call 244-2975, ext. 112 no later than Thursday, October 30 to RSVP. During lunch we will entertain ideas for the upcoming year for the Singles Ministry.

We will begin taking orders for Christmas poinsettias on November 2, and they can be ordered through November 30 for only $10 per plant. Please specify if your poinsettia will be in memory or in honor of someone, and sign-up sheets will be in the Sunday School folders.

The search is over... a new bus has been selected! The Bus Team, with approval from Pastor Aaron, has selected a bus identical to our current bus, except it is a newer 2014 Ford Allstar/Starcraft. The cost for the bus is $54,071, of which we currently have $38,351. We need $20,000 so we can pay for the bus plus any additional expenses. Please consider making a donation to our Bus Fund to purchase this bus as soon as possible. Thank you!

Our annual trip to the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center in Charlotte, NC will be on Thursday, December 4. We will meet at the Church that morning at 8:00 a.m. and will return that afternoon around 5:00 p.m. There is a limited number of spots available for the trip and for the bus, and they will be given on a first come, first served basis. Sunday Night L.I.F.E. classes continue each Sunday at 5:00 p.m., and you can see Pastor Gene Ownbey's August newsletter article for more information on each class.

Connecting Women is a gathering of women for food, fellowship and nurture in the ways of the Lord. Inspired by Titus 2:3-5, Connecting Women provides an opportunity for women to learn from other women some very practical ways to glorify God in their homes, families, and in their sphere of influence.
Session 1 is Picture This! - Creating Family Keepsakes from your Digital Photos.** The Host Home is provided by Elaine Ott, 207 Twilight Place, Simpsonville, 29681 for those who have already made reservations on Tuesday, October 21 or Thursday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. The Program Team is made up of Elaine Ott, Catherine Wofford, Michelle Halbert, Heather Waters, Malia Taylor, Ashlee Farmer, Mara Harbin and Nickole Dorman.
**Role Reversal! The October 2014 session of Connecting Women will be a 'reversal' of our normal format. This fall, ladies of the 'younger generation' would like to return the favor and host our 'more mature and wiser' church family counterparts. Our hope is to reciprocate the hospitality and fellowship that has been shown to us over the years of the Connecting Women ministry program.

The Women's Missionary Union (WMU) Missionary Focus Group will meet at Kathleen Kennedy's house Monday, October 27 at 10:30 a.m.

The WMU is in need of participants and someone to lead the drive for knitting or crocheting caps for seafarers. We will continue to be involved with churches from around South Carolina this year, and once the caps are finished, the ladies put their address inside so the recipient can send them a thank you letter.

The gift-wrapped caps are sent to Charleston around November 1 so they can be on the ships before Christmas. A tract also goes on each gift to tell the seafarer the true meaning of Christmas. Please contact Sarah Allen at 244-0845 for more information on this effort and for how you can help! There are sheets at the Ministry Information Table with knitting and crocheting instructions.

Join together for a time of Bible study and prayer on Tuesday mornings at 7:15 a.m. Students gather at the home of Sonya and Rudy Ables at 214 Stone Lake Drive, Greenville, 29609. Following prayer time you will walk together to League Academy. If you have any questions, please contact Sonya by email or by phone at 244-9259. You can also contact Pastor Travis Cross at 244-2975, ext. 121 or by email.

Our delicious Wednesday Night Dinners continue on Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Children 2-3 years $2; Juniors 4-12 years $3.50; Adults $5.50; Family Maximum $14.50. Sign up in Sunday School classes, at the Ministry Information Center, call Debi Dowling at 244-2975 or email her no later than the Monday before the Dinner.

We have visited Shepherd's Gate each month for our second year. Praise The Lord! Many thanks to all who have hosted an evening this year. Please contact Valerie Robertson by email or call 419-7438 with any questions or to find out more about this ministry that meets each second Friday of the month.

Continuing this Wednesday is the 15-week parenting course, Shepherding a Child's Heart. Biblical parenting is about leading our children to change and grow, and to do that we must address the heart. Otherwise we will attempt nothing more than manipulative behavior modification that results in our children responding to a new idol rather than our loving Lord. For those who have previously registered, the class begins at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday. Angie Ownbey is leading the course.

PLEASE PRAY for all of the Good News Clubs and Lake Forest Elementary School!

Thank you to all of you who recently volunteered to help in the Nursery Suite! It will be a huge help to have substitutes we can call on when a need arises. Additionally, there continues to be a great need for volunteers willing to serve as substitutes on the Preschool Hall where our Ones through Fours classes meet, especially during the worship hour. Please consider making yourself available to fill in should one of our regular workers not be able to serve on their scheduled week. Please contact Amy Sweeney at 380-5785 or by email.

PICTURES: You may notice in the Worship Guide each week and occasionally in the newsletter we run pictures of our ERBC families who are part of Family Ministries. If you would like your family picture to be used in the rotation or if you would like to submit an updated picture, we would love to have it! Simply email it to Pastor Travis.

MARCH 13-15, 2015: DNOW. It is with great excitement to officially announce that our spring Disciple Now weekend is in motion for our 6th - 12th grade students. DNOW is a very intensive discipleship weekend that includes tons of worship, Bible study, small group time, and deep growth in the Lord Jesus. It will also include lots of food, fun, and fellowship!

Students will spend Friday night through Sunday morning feasting on God's Presence, His Word, and enjoying the fellowship of God's people. It will consist of 5 main sessions together in the Sanctuary at ERBC, but we'll divide students into small groups by grade and gender. These small groups will stay together in local host homes both nights furnished by ERBC members... and we'll need lots of homes!

Our DNOW theme will be TOTALLY CONSUMED, taken from Hebrews 12:29. Cost is $40 each, and registration will begin October 26 and end January 28. My prayer to God is to move on the hearts of 125 students or more to attend this special weekend. Start praying now! Pastor John

The ERBC Medical Team works in conjunction with the Safety Team so our members can worship and serve in a safe environment that is well equipped with professionals who can assist in case of emergency. Each Sunday morning team consists of two doctors, one nurse and one dentist or dentist professional. KAIROS Prison Ministry is an ecumenical Christian ministry designed for use in state and federal men's and women's correctional institutions in the United States and throughout the world.

The purpose of KAIROS is to establish a strong Christian community among the residents of correctional institutions. This is done by the presentation of a 3-day short course in Christianity. It is presented by an interdenominational team of about 55 persons for a group of 42 residents. The chaplain carefully selects the inmates from the prison population. The ideal recruits are those residents who are presently the leaders in the institution. There, they become Christ's agents for change in their environment that ultimately can bring about change in the attitude and quality of life for the entire institution.

The primary goal of the KAIROS ministry is to teach those who attend the weekend to become part of a share and prayer group. This allows them to share their lives on deep spiritual level and pray for one-another.

The South Carolina KAIROS website gives much more information, and Ed Chandler will be glad to talk to you further about how you can be involved. Please contact Ed at (864) 244-9153. You can also see a recent Post and Courier article on how KAIROS makes such a difference in men's lives!

The SingleMinded 30+ Bible Fellowship Group ladies have the opportunity to attend the Heath/Martin Women's class that meets in the Library at 9:00 a.m. The men are encouraged to attend the BFG (also at 9:00 a.m.) for men of all ages in Room FLC-109 with Mark Hopper.

How great You are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like You, and there is no God
but You, as we have heard with our own ears

2 Samuel 7:22

It is ERBC’s vision to provide a house – shelter – for families to transition into permanent housing. Several years ago God blessed ERBC with 60 acres on the corner of Devenger and Hudson Roads. Not only did He provide land for the future ministry expansion; He provided 3 existing houses on the same property. The Devenger House at 205 Devenger Road (near the ERBC soccer fields) has been under renovation for over a year. The goal is to allow local ministries (GAIHN) to use the Devenger House to transition families without a home into permanent housing. Thanks to many ERBC members who have donated their time, talent and treasure to prepare this house. Pray to see how God would use you!

Mom’s Day Out for babies through 2 year olds and K-3 through K-5 is open to the public. Please call 292-0194 for more information, and you can also visit our website.

The South Carolina Heart Gallery is a photo exhibit displayed in the main hallway that features adoptable children from the SC foster care system. Local photographers donate their time and services to photograph the waiting children. The Heart Gallery basically puts a face on the need by letting people see these children’s faces in the photos.  The goal is to raise awareness of the need for adoptive families and to hopefully find homes for these kids by letting their personalities shine through the pictures.

You're not alone! At our Sarcoma Support Group you'll find:

The Sarcoma Support Group meets every fourth Monday in July, October and January at 7:00 p.m. in the Library. For more information you can contact Beth Lagrange by email or by phone at 864-254-0333, and you can access the Sarcoma Support Group webpage.

Miracle Hill Ministries is recruiting Christian foster parents to care for foster children of all ages on a full-time basis as well as respite basis. Any adult (single or married) who has a heart for working with needy children is welcome to apply. Miracle Hill works with DSS to place children from the Upstate in foster homes throughout the community. Background checks, training classes, paperwork and a home study are required.
