WOMEN’S MINISTRY PARTY WITH A PURPOSE NEEDS YOUR HELP AND DONATIONS!

ERBC will host residents of Miracle Hill’s Shepherd’s Gate and The Renewal Program for Party with a Purpose Friday, January 25, 2019. We need ALL ladies from ERBC (or friends) to donate CLEAN AND GENTLY USED scarves, pocketbooks and costume jewelry. Donation Barrels are at the office hallway and nursery entry. We would like to collect all donations by Sunday, January 20! Barrels will be emptied weekly.

We need ALL adult SS classes to collect the items they’ve been assigned for PWP. Once all is collected, put it in a bag and put in the office with Valerie Robertson’s name on it. Valerie will make weekly pickups.

Signups are in the hallway for these committees: Hostesses, Accessories, Child Care, Hand Massage, Manicures, Bibles, Decorations and Desserts.

Anyone can bake and greet, just greet, just bake, etc., but we need all the help from our ERBC body in this outreach ministry to Miracle Hill’s Shepherd’s Gate and Renewal ladies.

These 64-70 ladies, who find themselves in dire circumstances, need to feel loved by the body of ERBC, but more than that they need to know the love and hope of Jesus Christ!

Thank you, ERBC, once again as we stretch our comfort zones in our local community. Contact Peggy Murray by email or by phone at 864-569-3662 or Tonya Nelson by email or by phone at (919) 454-7298 for more information.

SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING

Many thanks to our ERBC members that volunteered to ring bells for the Salvation Army. The volunteers were children, youth, students, and adults. The volunteers heard and saw many heart-warming statements and actions from those donating, such as “I was helped as a child when my Dad was out of work, and I want to give back,” or when a little girl took money from her own pocketbook to donate, or when a guy dressed in a Santa outfit or a guy with a beautiful Siberian Husky dog joined the volunteer. This year ERBC signed up for three Saturdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas at the Walmart on Pelham. Our volunteers collected $2160. Overall, $450,000 was collected during the 2018 Salvation Army Bell Ringing campaign, and 2500 children were helped. Congratulations to the Salvation Army for a campaign well done.

ERBC began ringing bells in 1993 and has continuously participated in the campaign through this year, celebrating 25 years ringing the bells. The effort was begun by Dick Crain, current ERBC member, and Jim Stovall, previous member. Lately, the effort has been continued by Pat Ward and currently by Skeet Martin. This year members signed up for nine of the fifteen 2-hour time slots assigned. ERBC is asking for a member to lead the 2019 Salvation Army Bell Ringing campaign between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please contact Skeet Martin if you are interested.

MORE KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY INFO

KAIROS Prison Ministry is an ecumenical Christian ministry designed for use in state and federal men's and women's correctional institutions in the United States and throughout the world.

The purpose of KAIROS is to establish a strong Christian community among the residents of correctional institutions. This is done by the presentation of a 3-day short course in Christianity. It is presented by an interdenominational team of about 55 persons for a group of 42 residents. The chaplain carefully selects the inmates from the prison population. The ideal recruits are those residents who are presently the leaders in the institution. There, they become Christ's agents for change in their environment that ultimately can bring about change in the attitude and quality of life for the entire institution.

The primary goal of the KAIROS ministry is to teach those who attend the weekend to become part of a share and prayer group. This allows them to share their lives on deep spiritual level and pray for one-another.

The South Carolina KAIROS website gives much more information, and Ed Chandler will be glad to talk to you further about how you can be involved. Please contact Ed at (864) 244-9153. You can also see a recent Post and Courier article on how KAIROS makes such a difference in men's lives!
