1) Christ-Centered Parenting in a Complex World September 8 – October 20 led by Hobbi and Leslie Maurer – Free in Room B-204. Registration link

There is no doubt that our world is complex — with common, accepted values that are at odds with a biblical worldview, it’s difficult for parents to know how to talk to and teach their children. The principles covered in this class are applicable to all parents, independent on the ages of the children (cradle to young adult). The sessions will address what the Bible says about these topics and how parents can incorporate these principles into their God-give task of child rearing:

  • How to Raise an Alien Child? — Jen Wilkin delivers a keynote based on 1 Peter 2:11-12 calling parents to raise their children to stand out rather than fit in. She discusses six key areas in which parents can help their children trade the comfort of “fitting in” for the calling of standing out.

  • Ready to Launch: How Mission Shapes Children —JD Greear explains why parents should have a missional mindset in raising their children. He shares how raising kids with this mindset will prepare and equip them to effectively engage the culture.

  • Family Feud: Parenting and Spiritual Warfare — Phillip Bethancourt talks about how parents can prepare their children for spiritual warfare.

  • Hindsight 20/20: Gospel Lessons I Learned Raising Children — Dennis Rainey shares Gospel lessons he learned while raising his six children with his wife, Barbara.

  • Pressing on When you Fail as a Parent — Todd Wagner teaches parents how to deal with failure, and encourages them not to give up even when things are tough.

2) Colossians Part 2 September 8 – December 8 led by Kirk Houston – Free in Room FLC-111. Registration link

A 12-week study of the second half of the Apostle Paul’s New Testament letter to the church at Colosse in which Paul exalts Christ as supreme and superior. This study will offer a firm understanding of how to live in a culture that relegates Christ to a minor role.

3) The Discipline of Grace September 8 – December 8 led by Kathleen and Larry Wilch - $10 in Room A-106. Registration link

God’s Role and Our Role in the Pursuit of Holiness

You are never beyond the reach of God’s grace. Neither are you ever beyond the need of God’s grace.

Without grace, we’d never come to Christ. But being a Christian is more than just coming to Christ, it’s about growing and becoming more like Jesus. This pursuit of holiness is hard work, and as we enter into this discipline, we sometimes lose sight of grace. Jerry Bridges helps us steer clear of this disastrous distraction, offering a clear and thorough explanation of the gospel and what it means to the believer.

Explore how the same grace that brings us to Christ also grows us in Christ.

Wednesdays September 11 – December 18 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. led by Sara Raunikar in Room A-106. Registration link

Having faithfully recorded the history of Israel from Eden to the death of Joseph in the book of Genesis, Moses continues the story of the people of God in the book of Exodus. In Genesis, Moses told the story of others, but in Exodus, he will tell a story in which he himself is a central figure. Part 1 of this study will cover Exodus 1-18, from the birth of Moses up to the point where the Israelites arrive at Mt. Sinai.

5) Return to Worship: A God-Centered Approach September 8 – October 27 led by Pastor Clay Smith - $8 in the Music Suite. Registration link

Worship is to God, for God, and all about God! This study will help us realize God’s specific design for worship and what He is truly seeking and how believers can best offer Him just that! We will look at Biblical mandates and guidelines and explore how things have perhaps been skewed over the years.

During these 7 weeks, we will examine several passages that demonstrate what worship is to be as well as what it’s not, and how we as followers of Christ can know we are on the right track. Worship is all about the Lord and what He desires from us and how well we respond to that calling from Him!

6) Spanish September 8 – October 27 led by Todd Smith and others - Free in Room B-212/214. Registration link

The primary focus of this class is to equip those who will participate in ERBC mission trips to Cuba. The goal is to teach basic Spanish phrases that will help one begin to develop relationships with Hispanics.

7) You and Me Forever: Marriage in Light of Eternity October 27 – December 15 led by the ERBC Marriage Mentoring Team - $10 in Room B-204. Registration link

Marriage is great, but it's not forever. It's until death do us part. In this study, Francis and Lisa Chan address the question many couples wonder at the altar: “How do I have a healthy marriage?” Setting aside typical topics on marriage, the Chans dive into Scripture to understand what it means to have a relationship that satisfies the deepest parts of our souls. Whether you are single, dating or married, You and Me Forever will help you discover the adventure that you were made for and learn how to thrive in it.
