The Torchbearers Ministry is based upon 1 Peter 2:9, which states that we believers should pass the praises and love of Jesus Christ as we would pass the light of a torch to the next generation. The ministry for ages 55 and up has been developed over many years to encourage service outside the church, inside the church, and within the Torchbearers Ministry and to provide opportunities for fellowship and activities.

Members of the Senior Adult Ministry serve in many areas because of their love for Jesus Christ, their love for mankind, and their love for ERBC. They desire to share the praises and love of Jesus Christ to their generation as well as the generations to come.

Some of the service areas in which the seniors are involved outside ERBC are after school Good News Club, Salvation Army Bell Ringers, Samaritan’s Purse Shoeboxes, Senior Adult Choir events at care facilities, contributing to the during school Center for Christian Learning, providing prisoner bags in conjunction with the Women's Missionary Union, and mission trips. The Good News Club and the Center for Christian Learning are programs to involve public school children in Bible study on a volunteer basis.

Senior Adult Choir practices from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Thursdays (September - May) in the Music Suite.

Some of the service areas in which the seniors are involved within ERBC are teaching Sunday School and Discipleship courses, Senior Adult Choir, Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry, missions organizations, Intercessory Prayer Ministry, small prayer groups, Deacon Body, church visitation in hospitals and in care facilities, and serving as church officers and team members.

Some of the service areas in which the seniors are involved within the Ministry are small prayer groups; group care; visitation in hospitals, in care facilities, and with homebounds; and fruit distribution to homebounds at Christmas.
